The BSAM movement is MOVIN’, and we couldn’t be more grateful!
On March 17 and 18, 2017, we were more than elated to host yet another Black Speculative Arts Movement in St Louis, on the beautiful hbcu campus of Harris-Stowe State University! Two days were filled to the brim with all things afrofuturism, black speculative fiction, black indie comics, and so much more!
From our presenters and volunteers, to our amazing student volunteers, we are so grateful. We had amazing panels, workshops, a play, and of course, MECCAcon International Film Festival! Many local St Louis high school students attended in a major way, courtesy of Locha Brooks.
Our next event, BSAM FUTURISMO, is in just a few weeks in the mighty Bronx, and we are DEFINITELY excited for that. Our event will be heavily centered on the afrolationo community. The lineup is HUGE, and we are so very excited! Check the link for full details, and get your tickets!! Also coming up are Oakland, L.A., Detroit, and more!
Check out the amazing photos below, taken by HSSU student and current Mister Harris Stowe, Aaron Batiste of VISUAL PERCEPTIONS. He once again provided our official media! Batiste, a native of Inglewood, CA, is running for SGA president! We at BSAM are so proud of all that this amazing young man is doing in and for his community, and we see absolutely nothing but greatness to come!
